A House of Stone
I build a house of stone
on a rock by the sea
not to fight the coming wave
nor to prevent it
flooding to the seashore
I build a house of stone
on the rock by the sea
to challenge me
to stay calm hearing the sound of the wave
and remain strong when the wave beats me
I build a house of stone
on the rock by the sea
to find a me!

Good job~ Wanda
thanks, Wanda... Looking forward to reading yours... :)
Nicely done. I like the consistency of using the same line again and again.
Btw...hello fellow Indonesian blogger :) I haven't met much Indonesian bloggers who write in English
Hi, Novroz.., nice to know you also... :)
I really enjoyed reading your poem.
The structure you have used, the repetition of the lines, is very effective.
Thanks for sharing.
Going slightly off topic here....!
I see you are from Indonesia. I lived in Malaysia for a while and used to love eating cangkok manis (I think that is the correct spelling!) I have tried to look for a recipe online and have had no look!
Is it something you would eat/cook or is it only a Malaysian dish?
My next question is..... Do you know the recipe and can you pass it on?????
Sorry, that should have said I've had no luck finding a recipe!
I built a house of stone
But forgot a crucial piece
I built a house of stone
Atop a sandy lease.
Crumbling, crumbling
Into the waves
Stumbling, stumbling
Into my grave.
Great poem. Thanks for the inspiration! :)
Jewel: thanks for the compliment.
I think that's Malaysian cuisine. Maybe we have it here in Indonesia but in different name. So, could you give me more detailed info about the dish? So I can guess it and find the recipe for you... :)
Fyodor Lewis: Woooww! That's also a great poem of yours. Short, yet powerful words... :)
Good poem, I think sometimes I need to build myself a house of stone on a rock by the sea! I like the last verse especially, short and sweet.
Thanks, Inkyscribbles... hope you can build it easily and then enjoy finding yourself...:)
A beautiful post. And I love the repetition of the first and second line. I like to do that too, when I compose a poem :)
And don't we all need a house of stone on a rock bye the sea?
Wulan: yeah... we need it...we need it... thanks for dropping by... :)
Hi Neni,
Cangkok Manis is a leafy dish - spinach I think. It is good with garlic and egg. I did suspect that it was malaysian cuisine, but if you could forward a recipe that is similar, I would much appreciate it!
Thanks!
Jewel, I found it by googling. It's not spinach, it's Asian vegetable called sweet leaves... So, you can find it in Asian shop.
Here's the link of the recipe:

happy cooking! :)
Thanks for the link! I'd been spelling the name wrong and had the wrong ingredient!
